Leading wildlife camera manufacturer Spypoint recently launched the new Tiny-W2 camera trap. This new model replaces the existing Spypoint Tiny-W.The Spypoint Tiny-W2 and the model it replaces, are unique because they are able to transfer captured images and video footage to a remote wireless data storage bin which can be placed at a distance from the camera itself. The storage bin can be concealed under ground with only its small antenna showing.
The new Spypoint Tiny-W2 now features a Time-Lapse mode which allows the user to programme the camera to take still images at pre-set intervals. Time-Lapse is only selectable in camera mode. From a Wildlife observation perspective, this function is ideal for use if you want to scan a much larger area as it doesn't rely on the camera's motion detection system to trigger the camera which is limited out to a range of 50ft.
Some people also use the time-lapse function to film the progress of a construction site for example. The resulting footage can then easily be turned into a video to show the rate of change and progress.
Another key difference between the new Spypoint Tiny-W2 and the existing Tiny-W is the max. wireless range between the camera and the wireless storage bin. This has been increased from 50ft up to a staggering 250ft!!
The increased range makes it easier to conceal the remote file storage bin while limiting the possibility that the nesting site you're filming gets disturbed.
Last but not least we have the Adjustable Period of Operation feature which allows the user to programme the camera to become operational at a certain time of day or night. This results in lower running costs and valuable SD card memory savings.
The new Spypoint Tiny-W2 retains all the other industry leading features of the outgoing Tiny-W, such as the Variable infrared level adjustment which prevents overexposure of the image and the 7 zone 70Deg. max. angle of motion detection (only with side sensors switched on).
The Spypoint Tiny-W2 produces excellent quality video footage in full colour by day and in black and white at night despite the fact that it isn't of HD quality. Still image quality is equally impressive due to the true 8MP camera sensor ensuring a clear and crisp image every time.
